Support of the District's Long Range Facilities Plan

These are the cold, hard facts. But in this case, they’re quite comforting.

  • The Long-Range Facilities Plan was based on community input—over 120 community meetings were held to gather information and opinions

  • The total cost to implement the plan and revitalize our schools is $293 million

  • The tax implications to our community are less than half the total cost—$125 million—the rest will be paid for by selling unneeded property, lower operating costs and energy efficiencies

  • This means the average Duluth homeowner (home value = $125,100) will see a property tax increase of just $9.16 a month—That’s roughly 30¢ a day to have new schools

  • The Plan will provide learning spaces that meet today’s standards for education, safety and efficiency

  • The Plan will also ensure our schools meet code in air and water quality, handicap accessibility and modern educational environments

  • A healthy school system is essential to maintaining a vibrant community, and the Long-Range Plan is designed to create a healthy school system in Duluth
